Teressa Bellissimo, co-owner of the bar, created the dish by deep-frying chicken wings and tossing them in a spicy sauce. This was initially done as a late-night snack for her son and his friends. The popularity of 'Buffalo wings' quickly spread, leading to the widespread adoption and evolution of the dish we know today.
